Kempo

I did manage to do my kempo x this morning. I got up not early but did get up, jump into my workout cloths and went right into it. I knew if even went downstairs or outside before I did my workout I would never get back up there to do it. Today was such a nice day. Warm and sunny around 60-65 degrees.

Yoga

I did manage to do my yoga yesterday. Man was I soar after and the next morning. I slept till around 10:30 this morning. I did not do my leg and back workout it was way to nice a day today to be working out. I climbed a few trees today instead. Tomorrow is kempo and will do my best to do it in the morning.

first post in awhile

It was so long ago that I posted that I don't even know if I did my workout after the skipped yoga post. I want to say that I did not do anything the rest of that week. I restarted week 6, I did the chest, tri's, and shoulder workout monday. I did plyo tuesday, skipped back and biceps on wednesday since I did them the other week and was redue that week again. I did not do yoga again. It just takes so long to do it. I know its a really good workout and I would really help me but just getting motivated to workout for an hour and half is hard. I did do my legs and back routine but did not do my abs because that was the day of my art opening and I had to finish working out, take a shower, finish printing other photos, and get over to bennington by 4:30pm.

After the art exhibit I went home and celebrated with a very fattening 4 meat thin crust frozen pizza. Kaleb came over and had some as well and we watched "Zack and Mira Make A Porno" on demand. It was very funny.

Saturday I didn't get up till late and I had no motivation to do Kempo. Sunday I skipped my stretching workout. I now I am on to week 7. I did my normal chest, tri's and shoulder workout. I skipped plyo again. That is really bad because that is probably the best fat burning workout. I just read that the best way to burn fat during a workout is to have your heart racing. And believe me this workout nearly makes my heart jump out my chest. My Monday workout I think I am getting much better at. I was able to do 21 clap/plyo pushups. That is doing a pushup then pushing up fast and getting your hands and feet of the ground and while that is happening I clap my hands and then come back down and do it all over again. It takes me longer to read that sentence then it does to actually do one of those pushups.

I did my back and biceps yesterday. I am really trying to max my reps on pull ups and really work on good form. Good form is key without it your not doing much for yourself or you might be hurting yourself. Today is yoga and I am going to try my best to motivate myself to do it. This is the last week of phase two before going onto the recovery week. Phase 3 is actually back to what phase one was.

no yoga today

Well instead of being healthy and doing my yoga exercise I was down at the Cambridge Hotel photographing the new chefs menu and eating it. I took over 800 photos of numerious dishes. I eat mostly the appitizer. Ever time Rich (the chef) came in with a new dish for me to photo he was always telling to eat eat Ian whatever you dont eat you can take home. Which I did and my mom and I had fine dining for dinner. It was a mix of vegitaran pasta primavera, a fish dish, a chicken dish with mash potatos, apple pie, spring rolls, cheeses, grapes, toasted pita bread, chicken pot pie. Very fatting and very delicous. After eating healthy for so long my stomach screamed at me later on the john. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING TO ME!!!!!. I guess it was a little much to handle that fast.

back and biceps

I think I worked the hardest on this workout out of many of the others. I tried much harder to work on my form. I went back to the pull up bar and did 7 pull ups close grip underhand. That is not that many but I went all the way down to elbow lock and then pulled myself back up. That is much harder then going down say only 3/4 of the way. I was able to do 2.5 wide overhand pull ups. Those are super hard for me. I worked a lot with the bands, really just witht the green ones. It confuses me a little because the guys that are using the bands are all using the green bands for the pull ups and those are the easiest of the three that I have. I sometimes am using the black bands which are the hardest. The confusing part is the guys using the green bands are so much more ripped and leaner and stronger then me but I am using the black bands. There is no way I am as strong or stronger then some of these guys. I must have bad form. I spent more time working on my form and incorporating an Isometric hold on some of the pull ups to get more of a pump.

As much as I say I hate the ab workout I think I continue to get much better at it. I am not as spent from doing one of the moves or I can make it through the whole move without a break. What upsets me is that I am not losing the flab on my stomach or tighting it up or at least it does not seem that way. The bad part about that is my 33 jeans are getting tighter not looser but not because I am getting fatter but because my abs are becoming stronger and larger and therefore adding onto the thickness of my midsection.

Legs, Back, Abs

Same as yesterday nothing new just the same workout. I hate doing the ab workout as I have stated in earlier posts. But I push myself to do them. I know I am getting stronger in the legs but it is hard to see a difference in leanest until the after photos. even then I still have much much flab to get rid of.

yoga x

Finished my yoga x workout. Nothing really new to post about it except that I think I am getting a little more flexable. I am getting a little strain in my upper back though after doing the shoulder stand. I dont know if this is because I am losing fat in my back and there is not as much padding to support there or I am doing something wrong. It only hurts right after when I go into childs pose and stretch my upper body out. Then it seem to subside.

back and biceps

Well that is what i did. Lots of different kinds of biceps curls and different forms of pull ups. I need to get some different weights. My ten pounds is two light for some of the moves and my twentys are two heavy for some. I need to get a pair of 12 pounders and 15 pounders. For my chest, triceps, and shoulders I would help to have less then 10 also maybe 5 and 8 pounders. I also did my abs again. I was not feeling that good today for doing the workout but I fought my way through it and finished the whole thing plus the abs. Tomorrow is yoga.

Phase 2

Yesterday started the phase two of my workout. I did chest, shoulders, and triceps. There was many forms of pushups some easy most hard. The big one that I thought there would be no way I could do was the jump/plyo push up. You get into a wide feet wide hand stance then push up and jump feet and hands off the ground and if you can get high enough you clap your hands then come back down and continue to failure. Ab ripper x was also yesterday that was still hard but I might be getting better at it. Today is plyometrics which I actually might be having fun doing since my form is getting better and it is a real sweaty workout.

core synergistics.

Ok I did core synergistics yesterday. I felt pretty good about doing the workout. It is still hard to do some of the moves but I am getting better every time I do the workout, my balance improves. But after looking at the workout book I saw that yesterday was x stretch and today is core synergistics. It not that big a deal I will do my x stretch today and then continue as if nothing happen at all. Tomorrow is yoga x and then x stretch again on sunday. Monday starts another three week routine of strength training and abs work.

Today was kempo x. Nothing new from what I have done but I think I am improving on my kicks and punches. Tomorrow is core synergestics again. I am not looking forward to it.

I did this workout for the first time today. It was not that much fun lots of strain on my fat stomach and fat legs. I hope to be able to get better at some of the moves as I progress and continue to add this into the workout routine.

Recovery Week

I finished the first 3 week of the classic p90x workout. This week is considered the recovery week. That does not mean that I just sit around. This week is more about cardio, yoga, and stretching. Next week starts another 3 week block of a mix of strength training, cardio, and yoga. Tomorrow is core synergistics which I guess works your abs/core (hence the name). This is the first time I am doing this workout.

Yoga X

I did not post yesterdays workout so I will add today. I decide to skip plyo on tuesday since I will be starting week 2 over. I then did my shoulder and arms workout yesterday which I had missed last week. I purchased these exercise bands that help alot with some of the workouts. Mostly on the back workout when I have to do pull ups. These are so much easier not that it is easy I still get a hell of burn from them but I can get into a better posterior and have better form and this will help my strengthing my back more till I can do the regular pull ups on the bar.

I went through the entire yoga x workout all 90 minutes of it. When I quit the first time I made it about 40 minutes but if I had just gone a few more minutes longer the whole workout changed from those hard sweat drenching poses to more work on balance and I was able to do a lot of those and like doing them. There was work on my abs and then finished up with stretching and just relaxation at the end. Tomorrow is legs and back.

Starting week 2 over

My job is to deliver real estate magazines once a month. When those magazines come in all other prioritys are moved down, including my p90x workout. Which I dont really like, I wanted to stick to this but I working this magazines takes all day and somtimes into the night. The first night I had to deliver I did not get back till 6pm then I had to leave again to deliver some more and did not get back till 10:45pm. I certainly was not in the mood to workout then. Thursdays yoga was also skipped because I did not get home till around 7:00pm and was dead tired and was not in the mood to do yoga for an hour and half and then eat dinner. Fridays legs and back was skipped all though I probably could have done I had the time but was tired from delivering all day. I got back into on saturday and did my kempo x workout. I also did my x stretch on sunday. I decide to start week 2 over since I missed three days. I did my back and chest yesterday and abs barely. His ab workout is extremely hard I can not do any of the moves for the most part with good form. My abs are that weak. I think I might do my own kind of ab workout and then when they are stronger I will move to Tony's ab ripper x workout.
I think I might skip plyometrics today and then do my three days that I missed. I'll then skip kempo x but I still might do x stretch and then start week 3. Alright I think I am up to date now.

Week 2 Plyo

I decided to do my workout first thing this morning before I ate. It is recommended that you not eat anything at least an hour before doing this workout so I just got up got into my workout cloths and got to work. I am not as stiff or as soar as I was last week but doing some of the jump squat and getting really low are still pretty hard for me. I will either be able to do it in time or not at all for my joints sake. Tomorrow is arms and shoulders.

Week 2 Chest, Back and Abs

I think I worked harder this week and did better on my form then last week. I felt much more exhausted this time. The ab moves are still very difficult for me. I can manage maybe 3 good ones before I have to stop. I wonder if I can do that stretch x routine everyday or I should wait till the end of the week.

X Stretch

I was not sure i was going to do this routine since it was optional, but stretching would help with the other excerises and and just feels good so I did complete the hour long routine which went by pretty quick. I will continue to do this on the scheduled day.

Kempo X

I always thought that all that punching and kicking excercise videos were kind of dumb and I thought I might feel like a dumbass doing all those punchs....but once I started going through this workout you learn to through a punch and kick and teachs balance and it sure got my heart rate up. My highest was around 171 bpm. I was able to do all the moves but some I had to pause and run them in slowmo so I could see exactly what they were doing. Needless to say I had fun doing it. I look forward to it next week. I will not look foward to plyo or chest and back....blarg.

Legs, Back, Abs

I never posted about yesterdays workout so I will include it in this workout post.

Yesterday was yoga x. I was hoping that it was not going to be to long. Not that I am not motivated to do it but I figured yoga to be around a half hour.....wrong!!! It was and hour and a half. I managed to get through about 40 minutes of it. I sweated more during that workout then I did during any of my other workouts, well not including plyometrics. I figured it to be more of a stretch and balance workout but it was sweaty and heart racing at least for me. It was my first time doing it. Next week I will try to complete the whole and hour and half.

Todays workout was back, legs, and abs (i did not do the abs this time). This was some pretty tuff moves and it seems to be more for the legs then the back but the back was not forgotten. I had to do many pull ups in all different kinds of hand positions, well i tried to do some of them I think I was lucky if I did two good ones. I think pull up might be a little to hard for me so I order some restence band that are actually used during the workouts as a replacement using the pull up bar. Once I am stronger in my back I will try for more of the pulls on the bar. The legs there was a lot of different forms of lunges.

I hope for next week I can do more the moves and stick through all the workouts. But who am I kidding this week in not even over yet. Tomorrow is Kempo X which is like karate.

Shoulders & Arms, Abs

I thought I would not be able to complete todays excercise routine but once I started and was warmed up I was able to get through all the exercises. The abs workout is still killing me I can not do all the moves and I have to take a few brakes during each set. My back is still sore and hurting but tomorrow is yoga x, maybe that will help with my back a little.

Plyometric back pain.

Ok I hope i can get use to this workout a little. Plyometrics yesterday was certainly harder and more of a work out then it seems, but if i can not adjust to some of this acheing I might not be able to do this workout. After first finishing the workout I was really soar and could hardly walk. Now my lower back is killing me in pain not the soar kind either. I woke up at 5:30 this morning and had to take two aleve. No matter what position I was sleeping in or how I supported my lower back it would hurt just as much. Well I have a whole week of rest before I have to do that workout again so lets hope my body does adjust.

Plyometrics

son of a bitch am I soar. I watched part of this last night to see what it was and none of the moves seem to difficult but they will kick your ass. He said that this workout was the X in p90x and I think he is right. This workout is an hour long and there are minimal breaks and what break you do get are only 30 seconds. You can take a break a little longer which I had to do but he does not want you to break to long and have your heart rate drop. This work out is all about keeping your heart racing. If I am soar now I can't wait to see what tomorrows soarness will be like.

Abs, Chest & Back

Well I completed my first day of the p90x. I did the ab ripper x around 12:45 this afternoon. My abs certainly need some work. I could not even do some the moves these people were doing. I did make it through. I then completed the back and chest workout at 5pm today. I could do more of those moves then I could of the abs. It pretty much went from pulls up to push ups back and forth for about an hour. I am quite sore and looking forward to sleep. Tomorrow is plyometrics AKA jump training. I watched a few minutes of it tonight to see what I was getting into. Most of the moves I can do its just comes down to the balance part.

Big Breakfast

Ok so started the diet portion of the p90x. After doing some figuring it looked like I am in the level 2 of the eating plan. The book gives you a number of different receipes. Each recipe has three versions. One for level one, two and three. The ingredients just increase a little as your level goes up. So as I said I figured i was a level two. For breakfast I picked the mushroom and cheese omelet. It sounded good. The ingredients are as follows.

8 Egg whites
1/2 Roma Tomato chopped
2 Tablespoons Green Onions chopped
3/4 cups chopped mushrooms
3 Ounces of low fat chedder cheese
Salt and pepper to taste.

To some this may not sound like much but, that is a lot of protein. I have never eaten that much before in an omelet. I only put 2 ounces of cheese in because it was not low fat cheese it was only 50% fat free. I did not want to go over my calorie amount for this dish. I might have to go down to the level one eating part. O one more thing that was not even the complete breakfast. It also told me to eat a cup of strawberries and 12 ounces of cottage cheese. I did not have fresh strawberries or cottage cheese and I dont think I even have room for it.

Assuming I can finish digesting this omelet I might do the ab ripper x workout at 12-12:30 and then rest a little before going onto the chest and back workout later this afternoon or evening.

Starting workout tomorrow

Just to get every one up to speed. April 2005 I decided I was sick of being a fat lazy slob. I read into the Abs Diet and was very successful with it. I lost around 90 pounds. I went from a 44 inch waist down to a 29inch. My weight went from 250lb on a 5'7" frame down to 150lb. This took me about a year and half.

I was not able to maintain that weight. I enjoyed food to much and excersise not so much. I was able to balance my weight around 170-175. I would like to be more fit and toned. I was getting really bored with my gym routine and stopped seeing results. I decided to bit the bullet and invested in the P90X dvd workout. In order to even complete the P90x workout, the program has me take a fitness test to see if I can even make in through workout without hurting or killing myself. You should be happy to know that I passed the fit test but not with flying colors but I managed to get through it. I am not in great shape but I can hold my own. Tomorrow I start the first workout. I watched two of the dvd before just to see if I can do some of the moves. They are going to be a challenge. The ab ripper x workout made my stomach hurt just watching.

Today I went out and picked up many of the foods that the p90x workout recommends for maximum results. I am pumped to give this workout a shot. I know I am going to be hurting for the next 90 days but it is for the best. I will try to remember to post tomorrow after the workout.
